Bring out the mimosas, hot girl summer is approaching 😍 I’ve been seeing these trendy summer hairstyles all over Instagram/Pinterest & I’ve been dying to try them out.
This summer we’ll be seeing a lot of throwbacks to the 90s hairstyle trends – “bubble” braids, space buns, and tendrils. The best part – you’ll only need two to three minutes to create these chic & cute hairstyles!
These hairstyles are super easy to recreate and don’t require curlers or straighteners. Because we’ve all been there: Sleeping in a little too late, rushing through your make-up routine or sending “I’m on my way” texts while still fixing your hair in your bathroom. The morning hustle is real!
This morning on the Style Edit I thought I’d share some of the following trendy summer hairstyles I plan on recreating ASAP! The Style Edit features some of the latest fashion trends that I’m loving each season! Subscribe for more style tips! 🥂✨

90’s pigtails
We may not associate pigtails with an iconic look, but pigtails were a huge deal back in the 90s. Remember Britney Spears Hit me baby one more time?
Pigtails in 2024 have grown up to deliver a sleek, sophisticated look and they can be saviors on a bad hair day! They’re not as severe as a high ponytail and even add volume to the crown without teasing. Move them high or low, add accessories or change the parting to get the final look you love.

Messy Buns
For a look that’s not too put together, try this messy bun. First, choose pieces of your hair that you’ll want hanging down. Next, pull your hair back into a bun minus those pieces. Et voila! Perfect for brunch with the girlies or for running errands.

Double French Braids
The double French braid is having a moment—and fittingly, a coinciding identity crisis. For starters, what are these actually called? While we’ve come to refer to them as what we think is the proper term—double Dutch braids—they’re really a whole boxer-French-pigtail-braid-situation.
“Bubble” Ponytail
Bubble braids are the latest hair trend taking over the streets and social media alike. Fun, stylish and easy to do, their popularity is only going to continue to grow. Bubble braids are extremely versatile, allowing you to create countless trendy hairstyles. Significantly easier to do than braids, but with the same final vibe, bubble braids are super on-trend and a must-know for every gal.
Bubble braids or bubble ponys are a cool way to switch up your usual updo, and they’re actually pretty easy to do. Add a few hair ties continuously down the ponytail, with about an inch or two of space in between them.
Scarf
A scarf is one of the best accessories that a woman can have. Scarves add a pop of color to any outfit and can be styled in many different ways: as a neck scarf, a belt, on your purse, and, of course, to create beautiful headscarf styles.
Tendrils
Soft, face-framing tendrils are so romantic and feminine. On a day when you’re not in the mood to fuss over your hair, this is the style to embrace. Why? Because it’s a low-maintenance way to still look great.
Tendrils suit all face shapes and pretty much every hairstyle – buns, ponytails, braids. Keep them straight, wispy or textured, chunky or thin, and they’d still look effortless. Dua Lipa, Kendall Jenner, and Bella Hadid often step out in styles with tendrils.

Space Buns & Bantu Knots
Two hugely popular festival hair trends of the 90s are space buns and Bantu knots. Both are fun, playful summer hairstyles that pair well with accessories and statement jewelry. They’re also really versatile and can be worn in different ways such as big, small, with the hair half-up, straight hair or with braids – you can make them unique to you.
